A Thematic Workshop on the GFMD's Contribution to the Global Compact on Migration (GCM)

The Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) 2017-2018 Co-Chairs, Germany and Morocco, with the assistance of the Governments of Philippines and Sweden, are very pleased to invite you to a GFMD Thematic Workshop on 6 September 2017, 09h00 to 18h00, at Hotel Savoyen in Vienna, Austria. The workshop aims to synthesize the GFMD’s inputs to the Global Compact on Migration (GCM). The outcomes of the workshop will be instrumental in finalizing the GFMD’s contribution to the GCM, which will be submitted to the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for International Migration (SRSG) in November and the co-facilitators of the GCM process, ahead of the scheduled GCM stocktaking exercise in Mexico.

The workshop is being organized back to back with the Fifth GCM Informal Thematic Session which will be held on 4-5 September. It is our hope that policy-makers and practitioners that are also taking part in the Fifth GCM Session will be encouraged to participate in the GFMD thematic workshop, with a view to enriching the GFMD's draft contribution to the GCM.
