Switzerland has an interest in ensuring that international migration is regular, secure, and respects human dignity and the rights of migrants. The programme supports men (35%) and women (65%) who have escaped trafficking to reintegrate into society, raise awareness on the perils of irregular migration and improve public and private capacities to deliver services to victims of trafficking.

The BMM is a regional programme that implements in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda to promote safe, orderly, and regular migration from and within the Horn of Africa. It has supported the partner countries to establish and strengthen National Coordination Mechanisms (NCMs). These inter-institutional bodies include representatives from the ministries concerned (Justice, Interior Affairs, Health, Education, Labour, Social Services, etc.), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and local communities dealing with migration issues, and facilitate joint actions.

Training courses for media professionals (print, radio, TV) on migration concepts, terminology, legal nuances, coverage techniques, ethical guidelines, methodologies. The trainings were conducted in 2022 and 2023 in cooperation with the Arab States Broadcasting union in 3 editions and were well received by participants.
