Fifth WHO Health for All Film Festival, special Prize Migrants and Refugees Health

On 26 May 2024, the World Health Organization announced the official selection of this years winning films of its 5th Health for All Film Festival. The awards were announced at a special event launching WHOs Investment Round on the eve of the Seventy-Seventh World Health Assembly in Geneva. Among the film awarded, the special Prize Migrants and Refugees Health was given to Dalal's Story directed by Alexandra Cordukes from Laundry Lane Productions (Australia).

EU- Belong project

EU-Belong is a 3-year project run by the Assembly of European Regions (AER) and 12 partners, and co-funded by the AMIF Programme (AMIF-2020-AG-CALL) of the European Union. The project is pioneering the field of inclusion & integration, by using an intercultural approach developed by the Council of Europe to innovate regional policymaking. EU-Belong will showcase how multistakeholder approaches, tailored capacity-building, co-design and transnational mutual-learning leverage regional efforts and generate innovation.

The City of Amsterdam, Netherlands launched the 180 Amsterdammers campaign in which it displays the portraits of individuals from 180 different nationalities, in local media as well as social media, to emphasize the diversity and the richness of their community.

Voces del Sur (Voices of the South)

Voces del Sur (Voices of the South) has been running since 2017 and has trained 20 migrant women in journalism and communications to enable them to generate content for an Andalucan local radio network of nearly 100 stations, as well as local television partners. The network has existed for four decades and is a trusted voice in the communities it serves. The purpose of the project is integration through communication not serving good news about migration. It does not encourage the beneficiaries to report on migration but all other topics from daily life.

Comprehensive Approach of Cameroon towards the interaction of media and culture in constructing and deconstructing the reality of migration

Combating, preventing and eradicating human trafficking in the context of international migration: this is a delicate and painful issue, as many Cameroonians are direct and indirect victims of security crises. A striking example was the migration crisis in North Africa (Libya), with the mistreatment of migrants by human trafficking networks.

Description: The ILO is working closely with the media to ensure balanced and right based narratives, to counteract biased narratives and fight discrimination, disseminate accurate information to prevent deception and produce an evidence-based debate around labour migration.
