The Global Diaspora Policy Alliance (GDPA) is a global network dedicated to promoting inclusive, evidence-based diaspora policies through fostering transnational cooperation among governments, diaspora communities, and international organizations. The GDPA advances dialogue, partnership, and peer learning to strengthen diaspora engagement, social cohesion, and sustainable development. It facilitates the exchange of best practices to empower diasporas in both their countries of origin and residence.

Given the context of large-scale displacement in Northern Mozambique, the Municipal Council of Pemba City (CMCP), with the support of UN-Habitat and IOM, propose to work synergically on the urban dimension of displacement as an opportunity to ensure a better future for displaced and host communities through increasing IDPs’ integration in urban areas.

In Nigeria, we are grappling with diverse climate realities such as desertification, floods, and conflicts over resources, which have profound implications for livelihoods and mobility.

Khurushkul Special Ashrayan Prokalpa (Shelter Project)

The Khurushkul Ashrayan Prokalpa is a flagship climate induced migrant rehabilitation project initiated by the Government of Bangladesh. Located in Khurushkul, Coxs Bazar, the project aims to provide sustainable housing, economic opportunities, and improved living conditions for 4,409 landless and climate-displaced families. It is the largest climate migrant resettlement initiative in the world, aligning with Bangladeshs broader climate adaptation and socio-economic development strategies.

The GRAMALOTE project

The GRAMALOTE project is a case study of the small town of Gramalote in Colombia, which was resettled due to the La Nia phenomenon. The main objectives were to relocate the entire population of the town, which was destroyed by landslides in 2010, and to rebuild the community in a safer location. The targeted population includes the residents of Gramalote, who were displaced by the natural disaster

Environment-migration nexus in Mali & Strengthening data related to internal and cross border displacement in the Sahel Region

The general objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of displaced populations, migrants and communities and establish inclusive, peaceful and sustainable natural resource management in the Sahel and especially in Mali, and improve the availability of data on mixed migration in the Sahel, particularly on the environment-migration nexus and through the collection, management, analysis and dissemination of data on internal and cross-border displacement.
