Towards a Holistic Approach to Labour Migration Governance and Labour Mobility in North Africa (THAMM)

Designed as a regional programme, THAMM supports national institutions to draft and implement policies and mechanisms for safe, orderly and regular migration, as well as fostering cooperation and regional exchange between relevant stakeholders in North Africa. It will also develop and pilot mobility schemes, in particular for young women and men in Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt, who are interested in a dual vocational education training in Germany, or for skilled workers seeking recognition of their qualifications to start working in Germany.

European Union Global Diaspora Facility (EUDif)

Summary: The EU Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF) is a pilot project funded by the European Union’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) under the Development Cooperation Instrument. It runs from June 2019 until the end of 2023 and is implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).

Regional Project on Sectoral Qualifications in the Euro-Mediterranean

The 'Cadre National de Certifications' (CNC) is a project which creates a framework for sectoral specific qualifiations in Morocco. The framework acts as a tool at the international level to promote international mobility for students and workers through reference to the 'Cadre Européen des Certifications' (European Qualifications Framework) (CEC), guaranteeing continuity within the education and labor qualifications system. The project, which was begun in Europe, now includes a number of countries south of the Mediterranean, including Morocco.

The Anti Rumour Strategy (ARS) Handbook

The Anti Rumor Strategy (ARS) is a long-term process of social change that proposes to explore and influence the causes of xenophobia, taking into account specific socio-cultural contexts. Its purpose is to prevent discrimination, improve coexistence, and harness the potential of diversity by triggering a change in perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors among the general population and specific target groups. The ARS was first promoted in 2010 in Barcelona with a current presence in six Spanish cities and 12 in Europe.

Study on attitudes to migrants, communication and local leadership

AMICALL was a transnational action project, coordinated by COMPAS in 2011-2012, exploring the role of Local and Regional Authorities (LRAs) in communicating with their citizens about the difficult questions raised by migration. Led by a partnership of six European research institutions, with the Council of Europe as an associate partner, the project provided a platform for the sharing of good practice and the development of new strategies for the communication of positive attitudes towards migrants and migrant integration at the local and regional level.

PARE 1+1 Programme for Attracting Remittances into the Economy

The PARE 1+1 Programme for Attracting  Remittances into the Economy, launched in 2010, offers funding to complement migrants’ financial resources and provides entrepreneurial training to migrants and their relatives for business development. The Programme also provides beneficiaries with information on the existing business opportunities. For this purpose, diaspora networks act as important information dissemination channels thus raising awareness on available investment opportunities in Moldova.

The Recommendations of the 11th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (2018) to guide ASEAN Member States’ efforts on leveraging technology to

  1. improve labour migration management, and
  2. provide digital services for migrant workers, with an overarching view of furthering all migrant workers’ well-being giving due consideration to gender sensitivity and to the specific needs in rural areas and agricultural sectors.
