Refugee and Migrant Response: Plan (RMRP)

The RMRP covers 17 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean with an overview of 12 thematic areas of direct assistance (Education, Food Security, Health, Humanitarian Transportation, Integration, Nutrition, Protection, Child Protection, Gender-Based Violence, Human Trafficking and Smuggling, Shelter and WASH).
This structure, also replicated at a national level, provides an ample scope of response and collaboration between the partners of the platform and the local government, and this is reflected in regional and country response plans.

CONANDA: National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents

Brazil has the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CONANDA). This is a permanent collegiate body with a deliberative nature, created in 1991 by Law No. 8.242. Through shared management, the government and civil society define, within the Council, the guidelines for the National Policy for the Promotion, Protection, and Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
Currently, CONANDA is composed of representatives from the following institutions:

The Migration for Development and Equality (MIDEQ) Hub is a network of more than 30 partners focused on the relationship between migration, inequalities, and development in the Global South. In Brazil, the MIDEQ Hub network worked a wide range of vulnerable groups in the Brazilian periferias including LBT women, informal traders, formerly gaoled women and activists from a favela in Rio de Janeiro to reversion our learning resources into Brazilian Portuguese.

The Interagency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants (R4V Platform)

The Interagency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants (R4V) is a collaborative effort involving over 200 organizations, including UN agencies, civil society, faith-based organizations, and NGOs. The platform coordinates efforts under Venezuela's Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP) to support refugees and migrants from Venezuela in 17 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The targeted population includes vulnerable communities affected by socio-environmental crises.

Migrant workers and the green transition in Brazil

A pilot project by IOM on migrant workers and the green transition in Brazil aims to build capacity and improve socio economic integration for Venezuelans in the renewable energy sector in Brazil. The renewable energy sector in Brazil is experiencing major labour shortages, and in a response to this, the pilot aims to reskill Venezuelan workers to fill some of the labour gaps. Workers undertake an extensive training course that addresses skills required in, for example, the solar power industry.

Women Refugees Empowerment Project

Women Refugees Empowerment Project is the result of a partnership between the Brazilian Federal Government, the UNHCR and UN Women.
Its objective is to help women refugees to integrate in the labor market, to facilitate cultural and laboral adaptation, and to support their economic independency. The project focuses on the employability of refugee women, refugee claimants and migrants who are looking for an opportunity to rebuild their lives in Brazil.

The safe, wise and secure use of digital technologies by migrants

Through the UK government funded Migration for Development and Equality (MIDEQ) Hub, we worked with migrant and tech organisations in Nepal to develop a migrant information portal that can be used by migrants and family members called Pardesi.org.np, and training resources in English and six Nepali languages that anyone can draw on to train migrants in the safe, wise and secure use of digital tech including within Nepal’s Migrant Resource Centres.

Hand and in Hand for International Talents brings companies and international qualified professionals together. It is running for interested companies in the pilot regions of Rostock, Reutlingen, Lübeck, Düsseldorf and Erfurt. The Employment Agency supports SMEs with the selection of suitable candidates, the matching process, initiation and support throughout the professional recognition procedure, arrangement of German courses (up to language Level B1 before arrival in Germany, up to Level B2 after arrival) and assistance with visa and entry.
