The Southern African Development Community Qualifications Framework (SADCQF)

A regional qualification framework, the SADCQF aims to enhance regional integration in the fields of education and training by promoting regional standards and recognition of qualifications. The SADCQF is a regional mechanism for comparability and recognition of full qualifications, credit transfer, creation of regional standards and facilitation of quality assurance (QA). It consists of a set of agreed principles, practices, procedures and standardised terminology intended to meet the five purposes of the SADCQF:

International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR)

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) is an inter-governmental organization of the countries in the African Great Lakes Region. Its establishment was based on the recognition that political instability and conflicts in these countries have a considerable regional dimension and thus require a concerted effort in order to promote sustainable peace and development.

Among the main divisions we find one concerning humanitarian social and environmental issues and one related to gender, women and children. 

O-Remit

The O-REMIT project by the International Organization for Migration uses data from various sources to analyze transaction costs and aim for a threshold below 3%. This provides insights on cost-efficient remittance options and help the diaspora in Belgium make meaningful investments in their home country.

Three streams will be implemented:

Stream 1: Understand the remittance flows and behaviour of diaspora in Belgium.

SADC Guidelines on the Portability of Social Security Benefits

In 2020, the Southern African Development Community adopted the Guidelines on the Portability of Social Security Benefits, through a tripartite process to help SADC countries adopt policies and regulations so that workers in SADC countries can accumulate and access social security benefits across different countries in the region.

Harmonising guidelines for the movement of persons during health crises in the COMESA region

The COVID-19 pandemic hindered the mobility of goods, services and people all around the world and regional and national authorities struggled to find common guidelines which could be applied homogenously. This was the case also for the Eastern and Southern African region, where different Regional Economic Communities (RECs) operate simultaneously, resulting in overlapping memberships with several countries in the region belonging to various RECs.

M- PESA or Mobile Money

Réseau International des Congolais de l'Exterieur (RICE) ( International Network of Congolese Abroad)

The International Network of Congolese Abroad (Réseau International des Congolais de l'Exterieur - RICE), is an association that gathers the Congolese diapora in France.

In October 2013 it launched a call for a business plan of €50,000 to finance local projects orthe creation of enterprises to the benefit of entrepreneurs from DRC, Gabon and the Republic of Congo.
