Digitalisation & diaspora-engagement in Guyana

The Diaspora Unit of Guyana has recently mainstreamed diaspora engagement into national digitalization efforts, thus improving service delivery to and communication with the diaspora.

The Diaspora Unit of Guyana applied to the Capacity Development Lab to help it improve its service delivery in the short term through digital communication, whilst simultaneously preparing it to advocate for diaspora inclusion in a long-term government digital transformation.

Caribbean Association of Training Agencies (CANTA)

The Caribbean Association of Training Agencies (CANTA) was created to establish and govern a Regional Training and Certification System to harmonize national TVET systems and develop regional standards in training and establish a system for assessment, certification and recognition of skills. All certification in the region comes under the CARICOM Vocational Qualification (CVQ) framework.

Guyana

This 10th EDF Country Strategy Paper (CSP) and National Indicative Programme (NIP) for the period 2008 to 2013 articulates a strategic and programming framework to facilitate Guyana-EC cooperation on critical aspects of Guyana’s development agenda. This agenda, since 2001, has been driven by the combination of a National Development Strategy (NDS) and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP). Recently, two additional “drivers” – the National Competitiveness Strategy (NCS) and a Sugar Action Plan – have been developed and added to this mix.

Patria Grande (National Program for Migrant Documents Regularization)

The Argentinean National Migration Directorate established via its disposition N. 53253/2005 a "National Program for Migrant Documents Regularization", which was also called "Patria Grande". This programme was arranged to regularize the immigration status of natives of foreign countries belongining to MERCOSUR (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) and their associate member countries (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname), that were residing in Argentina prior to April 17th, 2006.
