Africa Regional Migration Program (ARMP)

The Africa Regional Migration Program (ARMP) focuses on enhancing the capacities of host governments and civil society to support the resilience of local communities. Its primary objective is to strengthen migration governance, promote partnerships, and enhance preparedness for crises. This program will enhance the coordination and cooperation of governments in addressing migration challenges and leveraging multiple opportunities associated with well-managed migration for both migrants and host societies. 

Dialogues Migrations

Between 2021  and 2023, France has funded a project called “Migration dialogues” which aims to promote a responsive discourse on migration. This project targets mainstream medias (journalists, bloggers and influencers) as well as journalism schools through training activities to support content development and information-sharing on migration issues.

Extension of international and domestic postal financial services, including remittance-related services, to rural areas of French-speaking countries in Western Africa

The project seeks to increase the number of remittance recipients with access to financial services and promote small and medium sized businesses. The project is focused on the extension of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) international electronic remittance service to rural postal offices and on the establishment of a link between remittances and postal account-based services. It also fosters support postal offices to develop partnerships with non-postal financial service providers such as banks and credit unions.

Mauritania

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a Sahel-Saharan country in West Africa with an area of 1 030 000 km² and 700 km of Atlantic coastline. It has a population of 2.7 million (projection based on the census in 2000). Its main resources are fishing, iron and more recently oil and gas. In 2005 a military coup brought to an end twenty years of authoritarian rule and, at the end of the electoral process of 2006–2007, ensured a move towards democracy.

Governance of Labour Migration and its Links to Development in Mali, Mauritania and Senegal

A project operating in Senegal, Mauritania and Mali with the support of Spain in order to maximise the development benefits of migration. The project enhances the employability of migrant workers by supporting vocational training institutions as well as improved training and employment services in countries of origin. It also promotes effective reintegration of migrants in national labour markets upon return.
